Hi Everyone,
Today was an amazing day filled with lots of Dr. Seuss fun! Thanks so much for all the parents that were able to come and help. We really appreciate it. Please remember that all field trip payments are due 3/8 via Skyward. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Attendance: I just want to remind everyone that school starts at 7:40 am. If your child comes to school after that time they will be counted tardy. With attendance, a tardy and an absence are counted the same. Our class has had a huge increase in daily tardies. When a student is tardy it not only effects them because we usually have already started class by the time they come in, but it also affects the class as a whole because it's a distraction. Note for the Nurse: Reminder-Since many of our children have life-threatening food allergies, we ask that you do not share food or treats with other students at school. ~ Nurse Sansom Spring is on the way and the weather is constantly changing. Please be sure to send your child with a jacket every day, we will go outside unless it's raining. We as teachers appreciate all the help you as parents give us, if you would like to help our classroom please feel free to take a look at our Amazon Class Wish List. These are things we need to help facilitate the learning and environment in our room. The link is below. I hope that everyone has gotten a chance to see their child's Question and Answer Book that they uploaded on their Seesaw. They worked hard on these books for weeks and were so proud to finally get the chance to publish them. Next week is the start of Book Fair. Our class will go Monday from 12-12:20 to buy books. The kids went today for Book Fair Preview and have wish lists in their BEE Books. Wednesday is Open House from 5-6. I hope to see you there! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Attendance: I just want to remind everyone that school starts at 7:40 am. Yesterday's Valentine's Day celebration was a hit. The kids enjoyed exchanging Valentines and eating ice cream. Thanks so much to all the parents that sent Valentines and to Julie and Melissa for helping set up and serve. I appreciate all you guys do. MAP scores went home in your child's BEE Book yesterday, please check it to be sure to grab that information out of it. DRA information will be sent home if your student is reading below grade level. If you don't receive a form on Monday your child is reading on level. Don't forget Monday is a Holiday, I hope everyone enjoys the 3-day weekend! ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Attendance: I just want to remind everyone that school starts at 7:40 am. The 101st Day was a blast! And the kids did such an amazing job on their shirts! I was so proud and they were too. Our Valentine's Day exchange is coming up on Thursday, please have each student bring in non-edible Valentine's to share with their class. Take Home Reading Folders will also start back next week now that all testing is complete. DRA info and MAP score will go home together just as soon as I get the go-ahead from the district, but I will be sure to keep you posted. -The front office wanted us to make sure you guys remind your student in the morning if they will have a change in dismissal. They have seen a big jump in the number of phone calls with parents saying their child isn't aware of the change in dismissal. -Principal Phelps wanted us to let everyone know that school-wide there will be NO FOOD VALENTINES allowed. -Next week is the last week for Neighbors in Need(We have donated the most so far. We still need combs and brushes)5th grade Student Council are working on a Service Project called Neighbors in Need. What they would like is for each grade level to send in some personal care items so that they can create bags to hand out to Austin's Homeless. I would really love it if everyone would participate and try to bring in a few items to help. When I was a child my Mom's Aunt owned and ran a Homeless Shelter in downtown Houston. I can remember being a small child and going out and feeding the homeless, I know those memories left an imprint on my life and helped make me who I am. I would love for the kids to get the chance to positively impact someone less fortunate than them. What they are asking for 1st grade to bring is; Toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, and soap. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Attendance: I just want to remind everyone that school starts at 7:40 am. Thanks so much for all the Moms that volunteered to come this morning for Mystery Reader, I really appreciate all your help. The kids were so excited this morning. If you haven't already, please log in to Skyward and pay for next week's field trip. This week's lesson on Small Moments was really amazing. The kids have really done an amazing job with their writing, and I hope you have enjoyed all the work they have been adding to Seesaw. We pushed off starting Words Their Way groups this week due to hearing and vision screening that was at that time. So I'm excited to get started next week. Also, next Wednesday will be the first day that Take Home Reading Folders go home. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about those. Vocabulary Parade packet went home yesterday. I'm really excited to bring this to Barton Creek, it was something that we looked forward to every year at my past campus. Feel free to use Pinterest, they have a ton of super cute, easy ideas. Be sure to bring Grandparents too! Parent Conferences are coming up soon. Please use the link to sign up for a time that works for you. Each conference will be 30mins, we have a lot to cover so please have some questions in mind to help us stay within our timeframe. Next week is the start of our Words Their Way groups. These groups will be pull only on Monday mornings and they will help students work on specific spelling patterns to increase their spelling knowledge. We will also do a light version of Reading Groups starting next week also. The reason I say light is because we will mostly talk about what Reading Group will look like, and what we will do when we come to group. We will also go over Reading Group expectations. The following week, Oct. 9-12th well will start full reading groups and their take-home reading folders will start to go home. I will send a follow-up email about take-home reading folders so you know when to expect them and what to do with them. We are working with the office on getting the glitch fixed for field trip payments, so hopefully, it's fixed by next week. If you haven't donated for the No Hassel Fundraiser please do so, today is the last day and we currently are the only 1st grade class that hasn't placed . I would hate for our class to be the only 1st grade class that doesn't win a prize. u We as teachers appreciate all the help you as parents give us, if you would like to help our classroom please feel free to take a look at our Amazon Class Wish List.
